By Georgia O’Keeffe” and the second about her time in New Mexico living at Ghost Ranch and then remodeling her Abiquiu house with Maria Chabot.
Maria Chabot – Georgia O’Keeffe: Correspondence, 1941-1949, I was so happy to see an Anita on Georgia’s bedside table phone tree when I toured her house, and I felt like Maria should be highlighted more on the tour also, once you read their letters you realize how much of Maria is in that Abiquiu house, the letters are worth the time. One of her two houses is located at Ghost Ranch, she would spend fall and winter at Ghost Ranch, and this drew me in to looking into their artist residency and applying. I toured the O’Keeffe home in Abiquiu home, where I discovered that her morning glories were the same size as the morning glories I grow in my own garden.
I tried to visit on a whim the summer of 2011, I was turned away not having a ticket, this visit I cam prepared & I bought the extended home tour. I plan to read two more books about her that I have cued up, one is a historical fiction of her friendship with Maria, and the other are letters between O’Keeffe and her husband Stieglitz that have recently been published.
